# Workflows Should Not Use Stages That Are Not Defined In A Stage Set

**Impact area**

Manageability

**Severity**

Medium

**Affected element**

Workflow / Flow

## Rule number

**SN-0435**

## Impact

In order to govern the proper usage of stages across workflows and flows, and avoid creating unnecessary bespoke stages, workflows and flows should use the stages defined in stage sets.

## Remediation

Review the stages available in the existing stage sets. If no suitable stage exists to represent the progress of your workflow or flow, please contact your manager and request creation of a new stage in an existing (or new) stage set.
