Quality Of Cloud Indicator (KPIs)

What is it and how do we measure it? #

Quality Clouds comes with a predefined KPI (Key Performance Indicator) called ‘Quality of Cloud’ which provides an indication of the overall health of your instance or org. The KPI can be accessed in the Home view as well in some other ones.

The ‘Quality of Cloud’ is calculated in the following way

  1. We assign 100% of the quality at the start to each new instance added
  2. We then subtract different % value based on the number of issues, the severity and impact area found in each scan.
  3. The reduction of the Quality of Cloud (QoC) value from 100% does not follow a linear path (which could eventually produce a negative QoC). Rather, it follows an exponentially decreasing curve, which has been parametrized based on the overall population of instances scanned by Quality Clouds

Weight Matrix for Impact Area and severity

We weigh the contribution of each issue to the overall QoC depending on the impact area and severity

(Note: The Upgradeability issues are only relevant for the ServiceNow platform)

Healthy instances are ranged between 80% and 100%. Instances with a range between 70% and 80% need a close monitoring about further developments.

A percentage below the 70% figure means that the cloud needs remediation work.

Quality of Cloud per Impact Area

For historical reasons, Quality of Cloud per Impact Area is calculated differently for ServiceNow and Salesforce instances

  • For ServiceNow instances, the reduction in the overall Quality of Cloud is proportioned equally between the five Impact Areas. In some cases, when one Impact Area contributes disproportionately to the overall penalty, this can bring the Quality of Cloud to 0% for a specific Impact Area.
  • For Salesforce instances, the Quality of Cloud for each impact area is calculated independently, in the same way as for the overall Quality of Cloud. This means that the value of QoC for any Impact Area should not reach 0% .
