What is a connectivity test? #
A connectivity test allows you to verify both that the connection settings which you configured in the Quality Clouds portal, and the permissions you granted for the account which will be used to run a full scan, are correct and will allow you to run full Quality Clouds scans on your instance. The connectivity test makes a request to check access to each of the tables which are required to perform a full scan, and logs whether the request is successful or not. The connectivity test does not analyse any data from your instance.
Tables are classified as being required or optional. If any of the required tables is not accessible, the connectivity test will return a Failed status, and no full scans can be executed on that instance. If any of the optional tables is not accessible, the connectivity test will return a Warning status. In this situation, it is possible to complete a full scan, but it is possible that the results of the analysis will be incomplete, since access is not possible to some tables.
The connectivity status of every instance is displayed in the instance list in the Instances section.

Testing connectivity #
→ To test instance connectivity #
- In the Quality Clouds portal, go to the Instances section.
- Find the instance you want to test in the instances list, and click the Test connectivity button
The connectivity is now being checked, and the results are displayed within a few seconds.
Interpreting the results #
There are three different results to every instance scan:
Success: All required and optional tables are accessible for analysis.
Warning: Optional Table not accessible. The ‘warning’ result is generally due to insufficient permissions being granted to the account which is configured in the instance.
Fail: This result means the instance scan can not succeed. There are a number of reasons for this:
- Inaccessible URL due to Firewalls or IP Restrictions
- Invalid Credentials configured in the Quality Clouds instance definition
- Required Table not accessible (See test details for more information of the error)
